TEST School tours at The Calyx

The Calyx is home to one of the largest green walls in the southern hemisphere - an explosion of plant life and colours in an immersive horticultural exhibition.

Students can tour this amazing space to enhance their knowledge of plant species, ecosystems and design.

Love Your Nature 

Explore a kaleidoscope of colour, plants and passion with Love Your Nature! Step inside the wonderfully diverse world of plant-love in our new immersive horticultural exhibition.

Plant-love has been happening since the dawn of time. Over eons, they’ve been reproducing with themselves, with other plants... and with the help of water, wind, fungi, insects, and other animals.

This year’s exhibition celebrates all kinds of plant-love. From prehistoric plants that use clones, spores and seeds to reproduce, to flowering plants that employ colours, shapes and scents to attract animals, and humans matchmaking for bigger fruit, brighter flowers and to protect wild plants for the future.

Curated by the horticultural team at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, Love Your Nature has over 20,000 plants on display and one of the largest living green walls in the southern hemisphere.

Add a self-guided tour to an excursion

You can add a self-guided tour of The Calyx to another primary school excursion to make the most out of your day in the Garden.  

Choose a primary school excursion with a tour and activities in The Calyx.

To include a self-guided tour, click on the Book Now link, then choose a school lesson that includes ‘The Calyx’ in the title (primary classes only).

Add a 30-minute guided tour to an excursion 

Why not add on a special guided tour to your primary excursion?

This includes an introduction and interpretation by a Botanic Gardens of Sydney Educator (Primary or Secondary). Guided tours are only available as an excursion add-on.

To book, simply select 'Yes' from the full day option and then 'The Calyx 30 minute Guided Tour' as your lesson choice.

Cost: $100 per class

Choose a self-guided tour only

Walk through the exhibition with your students, pointing out fun facts as provided on a self-guided information sheet (primary or secondary).

Bookings: Choose “Calyx free self-guided tour” in your excursion application form.

Cost: Donation requested upon entry.
